How To Change Windows Vista Sounds. |
| |
| If you are tired of hearing the same old sounds when you start Windows or when you minimize a Windows or when you simply Copy, you just might want to consider introducing a whole new set of a sound scheme to your Vista. |
| |
| Microsoft has made available for download through Windows Update, 2 new sound schemes as a part of Vista Ultimate Extras. One is the Glass Sound Scheme, which makes the sound seem like they are made with glass instruments. The second is the Pearl Sound Scheme, which further extends the intentionally subtle design of the Vista default sound scheme with a richer, milky palate. |
|
| Once you have installed them, open Control Panel and Click on Hardware and Sound. Next select and click Change system sounds, under Sound. Here, under the Sounds Tab, under the Sound Scheme, in the drop down window, you will be able to see the sound schemes available. |
|
| Select one, say, Ultimate Extra Glass and click on Apply > OK. You may if you wish, further customize them, in the Program box. |
| |
| Having done this, you will get to hear a whole new set of sounds. Trust me, you will find them to be a welcome change. I always have my sounds turned off, but I am now loving the small new surprises which Vista throws up in the form of new sounds which appear when I use it! |
|
| If you do not have Vista Ultimate, you can always change Windows sounds yourself manually, or else you can check out Stardock's SoundPackager is a software you may want to look at. It makes customizing your sound experience in Windows easy, by allowing users the ability to choose from "sound packages," eliminating the need to edit each system sound assignment individually. But it is not freeware ! |
